Deshima award for Sekisui S-Lec

Managing Director Sirt Mellema of the Japanese company Sekisui S-Lec received the Deshima Netherlands Award from Maria van der Hoeven, Minister of Economic Affairs and jury president Yvonne van Rooij. The Deshima Netherlands Awards is an initiative of the Dutch Japanese Trade organisation (DUJAT) and were instituted to underline the importance of Japanese investments in the Netherlands for the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Sekisui is a leading worldwide company with over 40 years of experience in glass interlayer technology. Sekisui was nominated by LIOF Development and Investment Company.

In the mid nineties of the last century Sekisui S-Lec established a production facility for their interlayer films in Roermond. In 2006 Sekisui decided to build a raw materials plant in Limburg as well: Sekisui Chemical. This huge investment was realised at the Chemelot Industrial Park in Geleen. In total Sekisui S-Lec and Sekisui Chemical employ 150 people in Limburg. Sekisui Chemicals Corp. has several production locations in Limburg of which three in Roermond (S-Lec, Eslon and Alveo) and one in Geleen (S-Lec). This underlines the performance of Limburg as European chemical hotspot location.
